Smoked Turkey Breast With Honey-Maple Glaze On The Grill

Servings: 8

Cooking method: Indirect Heat

Suggested wood: Hickory, oak, maple

Cooking time: 3 hours

Let rest: 20 Minutes

Ingredients:

Wet Rub

  • 2 tsp brown mustard
  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil

Dry Rub

  • 1 TBSP dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 boneless skinless turkey breast (4lbs)

Honey-Maple Glaze

  • 4 TBSP butter
  • 3 TBSP pure maple syrup
  • 1 TBSP honey

Directions:

  • Build a charcoal fire on one side of your grill, leaving the other side empty. This will create the area with indirect heat.
  • In separate small bowls combine wet rub and dry rub, mix well.
  • Apply wet rub to entire turkey breast, coating thoroughly, then sprinkle dry rub over the turkey as well.
  • When cooker reaches 250 place turkey breast on grill, away from heat and cook for 2 ½ hours.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in maple syrup and honey.
  • After 2 ½ hours, coat turkey breast with half the glaze; cook for an additional 15 minutes, then coat turkey with remaining glaze.
  • Cook 15 minutes more, or until internal temperature of thickest part of breast reaches 165.
  • Remove turkey from grill and let rest under tented foil for 15 – 20 minutes before carving.

Honeydew Melon Soup

What you’ll need:

  •  8 Cups of cubed honeydew, medium ripe
  • ¼ cup mint leaves
  • 2 TBSP lime juice
  • 1 TBSP honey
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 4 TBSP Plain Greek yogurt
  • *Chopped pistachios
  • Food processor
  • Large bowl
  • 4 Serving bowls
  • *Extra honeydew melon formed into balls

*Optional*

Directions:

  •  In a food processor, add cubed honeydew melon, mint leaves, lime juice, honey, and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Pulse a few times to combine; process until smooth.
  • Refrigerate, in large bowl, for a few hours.
  • To serve, divide equally among 4 bowls and stir in 1 TBSP plain Greek yogurt into each.
  • Garnish with small melon balls, mint and chopped pistachios, if desired.

Makes 5 cups.

 

DIY Fabric Softener

Items you’ll need:

  • a bowl to mix in
  • 6 cups hot water
  • 2 cups hair condioner
  • 3 cups vinegar
  • spoon to mix with
  • a container to poor mixture in
  • funnel

Directions:

  • Mix ingredients into large bowl.
  • Mix, do not shake, until all conditioner is mixed well, no chunks. This takes a while.
  • Poor into clean container for storage. I used an old laundry detergent bottle cleaned.

DIY Beach Hair

Items you’ll need:

  • 8 oz of warm water
  • 1/2 tsp coconut conditioner
  • 2 tsp Epsom salt
  • 1 tsp of unscented gel
  • funnel
  • measuring spoon
  • spray bottle

Directions:

  • Mix water, conditioner, Epsom salt, and gel into funnel.
  • Spray into hair and enjoy!

*I added more conditioner to mine because my hair dries out to easy. Also, I made a larger batch since I have really thick hair.8

DIY Sidewalk Chalk and Paint!

Items you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cups cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • Food coloring
  • Cupcake pan
  • Spoon to mix
  • Paint brushes

Directions:

  • Mix cornstarch and water.
  • Divide into cupcake pans, usually makes 12.
  • Add desired color of food coloring.

Items you’ll need:

  • 2-3 TBS Tempera Paint
  • 3/4 Plaster of Paris
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Toilet paper Tubes
  • Wax Paper
  • Masking Tape
  • Sandwich baggies
  • Scissors
  • Spoon

Directions:

Line the interiors with wax paper, tape the base to seal one end, and set aside.

Mix tempera paint with water.

Stir in plaster of Paris.

Spoon the mixture into a sandwich baggy and snip the end.

Squeeze the contents into the tube.

Prop straight up.

Allow to dry at room temperature for at least 12 hours.
