DIY Oven Cleaner

I hate using chemicals to clean my oven! So when I went online to find a DIY cleaner I found a few and now I am sharing them with you.

Baking Soda and water:

Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda onto the bottom of a cool oven.

Using a spray bottle, spray the baking soda down until it is damp, not saturated. The water and baking soda together will help break down the food particles.

Every few hours spray the baking soda down again to keep it moist. Continue this process over several hours, spraying water as the baking soda begins to dry out.

Scrape out the baking soda, I used a spatula.

Rinse the bottom of the oven out thoroughly.

This method does work, a little time consuming but overall, I am pleased with the results.

Salt and vinegar:

Set the temperature to about 125 degrees.

When the oven is warmed up, dampen the caked on areas with vinegar, then pour salt directly over the grime.

Then, turn off the oven and let it cool down.

You can then scrape off the salted areas and wipe down with a wet towel to get the crumbs out.

My reviews on this was mixed. After following the steps completely, I still had grime in my oven. And, I didn’t like that I had to turn on my oven risking the chance of burns.

Baking Soda and vinegar:

Spray down the oven with vinegar.

Sprinkle baking soda over the affected area.

Let it sit for several minutes. It will react with the vinegar and may get bubbly.

Gently scrub until you’ve removed the gunk, then wipe down with warm soapy water.

I loved cleaning my oven this way! What I did different was I didn’t just spot clean it I cleaned the complete oven.
